There are many foods the aztec used for there diet.

maize (also call corn) was and the number one grain of the aztec. Maize (corn) has been used for thousands of years and is thought it started with the aztec empire then spreading thought out the whole world. Corn was used to be grounded down to make flour, used to make afloat bread called "fortillas." 

corn today is not just used for food around the world, such as sticky tape, making doxes, not even candy, just to name a few.

 

Some other aztec foods were beans and squash. Maize and beans are still the core of the mexican/people of aztec diet today. Other food the aztec added to these three items were potatoes, sweet potatoes, chillies, cashews, lime, tomatoes and chocolate. The aztec also domestccated animals such as Bee's for honey, Turkeys for meat and eggs. They also hunted  and fished, deer, fish, shrimp and rabbit. The aztec even ate worms, grass hoper and insects. The aztec ate anything they could hunt, not wasting much of the animal, using bones for tools and skin for clothing.

 

Mexico is the part of the world that chococate came from. Aztec empier treasured the cocoa bean. they treasured it that much they used the cocoa bean as currency. The Aztec used the cocoa  to make a very thick chocolate drink. The aztec added corn meal, spice and  peppers to the drink making it a lot different.

 

Columbus brought cocoa bean to europe in the early 1500s but was ignored. It came success when Cortes took out the spice and added vanilla and the word chocolate comes from the Aztec. Aztec beveled the god Quetzalcoatl gave them the cocoa bean rom the tree of life. They even thought at first Cortes was the returning god reincarnated.
